The super-wide width design encompasses willow trees that dance with blooming powder-pink roses and burnt orange butterflies, against chalky teal skies. Depicting that special time of day when the light changes and dusk sets, you’ll love creating your room scheme around this gorgeous palette of colours.
The starting point for this wallpaper occurred whilst Kit and her team were working on a residential project in Westchester, New York. Something unique was needed to dress the walls of the dining room – a mural design with an English twist that felt fresh and contemporary.
I started with the background, first experimenting with stippling before choosing a sponged effect as it gives a more textured, crushed velvet-y feel. Then I built up trees and branches in a style that nods to traditional Chinoiserie. The leaves, flowers and butterflies are painted with a loose energy and we chose English birds over exotic ones with my favourite bird, a wren, dashing around on the grassy hillocks.
As ever this was a joyful project to work on with Kit and her team and something a little different from me.
