Magical decorative worlds

I design and hand-paint surface pattern for interiors ~ drawing history into the present. My artwork spans floor-to-ceiling mural commissions to brand collaborations and a studio shop of wallpapers,
prints and decorative objects. The common thread
is always a hand-painted heart and a historically
restless imagination.

From my studio on the Sussex coast

From my studio in Hastings I design and hand-paint decorative worlds for interiors. My work began with the bold, colourful wall paintings of the Elizabethan painter-stainers, and that tradition still anchors everything I do. Nuanced colour, painterly brushwork and the subtle irregularities of the hand-made keep my designs alive. I digitise with the lightest touch so the imperfect hand stays ever-present ~ what I think of as the patination of time.

Paint to pixel to print

Most people know me as a painter, but the journey doesn't end at the easel. Translating a hand-painted original into a production-ready file ~ a seamless wallpaper repeat or a perfectly scaled print ~ is as much a part of my practice as the brushwork itself. While the paint always comes first, the digital transition is handled with the same quiet precision and care, ensuring the soul of the original is never lost in the process.

Enchanted Tree of Life ~ Chelsea Textiles

Current Collaboration
Embroidery of a bird surrounded by blue and red floral patterns on a beige fabric background.

A glimpse of a special project currently unfolding in the Hastings studio: a collaboration with Chelsea Textiles, the established luxury brand renowned for their hand-crafted recreations of antique textiles. I have been immersed in translating the intricate needlework of a large-scale antique embroidery into fluid brushstrokes for a new printed fabric. This partnership interprets a historic document through a fresh, painterly hand, resulting in a design that feels entirely of its moment while remaining deeply rooted in the past. More revealed soon on Instagram and in my Newsletter.
